About
The Design-Research Framework is the model I've kept in the back of my mind on every product I've led for the last fifteen-plus years. I practiced it in New York in the late 2000s, first wrote it down in 2011, and gave it this domain in 2013. It has worked, and this site is where I'm pulling it together so others can use it.
The goal isn't a book. It's a working framework you can read, copy and build from, including your own agent harness for the whole of product and UX work: research, ideation, inspiration, design, and measuring against what the business needs.
How to read this site
- The framework is a working draft, versioned. When it changes, the changelog says what and why.
- Artifacts are the defined outputs of each activity. Each one becomes a spec, and each spec becomes a skill.
- Origins keeps the dated record, including the pages first published here in 2024.
Every page is a Markdown file with structured front matter. Agents can read the whole site through llms.txt and feed.json.

This builds on people whose work shaped mine, including Desirée Sy and L. Miller at Autodesk, whose dual-track agile is the starting point for the Triton. More names will follow as each page is worked through.
